Science fiction gives me a way to explore memory, loneliness and change without explaining those ideas directly.
The tools available to independent filmmakers are changing incredibly quickly. What interests me isn't the technology itself, but what becomes possible when a filmmaker can attempt an idea that once would have required an entire studio.”

Mara Voss is an independent writer and director based in the United Kingdom.
Her work explores speculative worlds through intimate human stories, often focusing on memory, isolation and the relationship between people and places that are disappearing.
Working with small teams and emerging production methods, she is interested in how independent filmmakers can create ambitious cinematic worlds without losing the personal voice at the centre of them.
